Environmental Licensing

Environmental Licensing Process Management System in a customizable environment for effective operation.

The complexity of the socio-environmental licensing processes involves a large number of parameters to be controlled, in addition, to managing the responsibilities and commitments of the company’s team and suppliers, and the documentation control and storage.

This solution integrates the management of processes, meeting the needs of the technical, operational, support, partner control areas, and other resources.

… the problem does not reside in the dimension of the coefficients of economic growth, but in the way of regulating the “metabolism” of the material exchange between nature, individuals, and society (Altvater, 1995).

The KNBS’ EKL (Environmental Kontrol and Logistics) product provides qualification and organization for expansion and operational efficiency of production processes: the EKL system focuses on controlling environmental licenses and their consequences to the regional operation.

This solution provides a list of features and possibilities focused on organizational improvements, operational efficiency, and systemic vision. Its goals are reduction of financial expenditures and efforts, providing integration of the company’s systems with guidelines, best practices, and an operation structured for environmental conditions and current policies:

Environmental Licenses Management: registration of environmental licenses and all conditions linked to each license. It facilitates the management of each constraint, with expiration date alerts, thus minimizing the company’s exposure to environmental agencies and regulatory/policy compliance.

The EKL system also allows license management and involved third parties, providing features for status monitoring, responsibilities, and contacts for each license.

Document Control: the system allows the archiving of all documents related to licensing. Using the system, it is possible to maintain documented history per unit, with the potential for cost reduction and agility in the process of meeting demands. It also allows the information management of Commissions and Committee documentation related to Environmental Licensing.

Performance Indicators: using the system, it is possible to check performance indicators and monitor them daily as a basis for the workforce and from each team member highlighting each environmental licensing responsibility and deadlines, supporting decision-making, and budget review.

Management Reports: the EKL tool has standardized management reports that can be automatically issued periodically and forwarded through predefined communication channels. These reports aim to the environmental process transparency for the different hierarchical levels of the company and outside it. It will also allow demand management (external bodies and internal structures) with information aimed at supporting decision-making and process workflow.

Georeferenced System: through GPS location it is possible to map and identify geographically the units being monitored and accessed, as well as licenses’ processing. Groups containing similar licenses should be defined according to each region.

Constraints Table: presents all the information related to a specific license. It is possible to manage the condition life cycle as well as the activities necessary to keep it in compliance. For each condition, it is possible to register and manage all activities, risks (impact, mitigation actions, and deadlines to execute the action), costs, and personal responsibilities. Through special features, it is possible to generate alerts to meet the action plan.

Responsibility and Sustainability

Waste Logistics: the EKL allows waste control by enterprise/location, by type of waste, by partners, by collected quantities, by financial amounts involved, by licenses associated, by destination, and documenting the processes, strengthening the strategy for responsibilities and structuring their cycle.

Obligations Panel: EKL allows the undertaking’s obligations management, with classifications like “donations”, “sponsorships” or “agreements”. By selecting one of the options, it will be possible to carry out an in-depth situational analysis.

Delivery reports: EKL allows the global monitoring of all documents and obligations deliveries for the teams and entities involved in the licensing process. It also allows monitoring and viewing of the status of licenses such as PL (Preview License), IL (Installation License) and OL (Operation License), and other possible business-specific derivations.

An AGENDA feature will allow viewing and managing all licensing processes through a workflow and activities, supporting a set of features such as alarms and automatic messages.

Environmental Licenses

The EKL framework is easily configurable. The first system’s screen already presents security features, such as access control to profiles with features and information (different levels and types of permissions), via a screen with login and password.

Your company can use the EKL without investing in equipment or expensive deployments. For this, KNBS offers the solution in a SaaS mode (software as a service) and provides the secured cloud resources necessary for the contracted controls.

In case your company needs the solution in intensive mode, KNBS designs the complete project and provides the usage license and other necessary configurations for the operations on-premise, if it is required.
