MME+GIZ, com consultoria KNBS+IEI Brasil, trazem muitas perguntas para a digitalização nos serviços de energia no Brazil.
We have many questions to be answered about sevices digitalization in Brazil, and at this moment the energy context becomes very relevant in its business evolution and transformation. Digitization and this transformation should be on the planning and agenda of Brazilian regulatory agencies and energy companies, to ensure future energy security, with adequate costs and capabilities. This is the world pathway, with legislations and regulations aimed at the participative transformation of the consumer in the process, the awareness of energy use and the supply capacity that guarantees the country development. Yes, Brazilian have to review guidelines, infrastructure, new business models, as the rest of the world already did.
Many questions arise, but three are consequences of an organization of ideas, from the point of view of managing the transition, in the change of context of the operation and in the sense of the client’s manifestation in the process:
• Are there bottlenecks and challenges for the modernization of the infrastructure of the Brazilian electricity sector that can take advantage of the opportunities arising from the digitalization of this sector to be solved? The obvious answer is yes, but it requires business transformation. Let’s think about this;
• With the volume of data that will be generated from the growing number of devices communicating with each other, the vision regarding the challenges for the adequate treatment of this data, from a technological, economic and governance point of views, must take place. Is it possible to bring international experiences as a reference? Yes, again, with the transformation of data handling, data protecting, information organizing in order to create more effective relationships with information sources (either equipment or customers);
• The customer will be transformed, as will be their potential services offered. Does this customer/consumer have to be treated differently? Yes, the communication revolution and the possibility of offering products and services is part of the customer evolution. The customer produce their own energy, sell it and make their energy use space more efficient. He (she) needs to be encouraged and made aware of his role as a decision maker.
These answers and other questions constituted a work to review technologies associated with the digitization and digital transformation of energy networks, comparing the experiences of Germany and Brazil on this topic. It was the result of a consultancy promoted by the GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the MME (Brazilian Ministry of Energy), with KNBS participating with the IEI-Brasil in this analysis of trends for Brazil.
